Michael McKenzie is Partner and Chief Strategy Officer at Grain Management, LLC. Prior to joining Grain, Mr. McKenzie held positions at the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC), including Deputy Chief of the Wireless Bureau and Senior Advisor for New Technology. In these roles, Mr. McKenzie helped to shape U.S. communications policy. Before joining the FCC, Mr. McKenzie held senior-level positions in the technology industry. He served as a General Manager at Microsoft Corp., where he supported the company’s worldwide enterprise cloud computing services. Prior to that, he served as Senior Director of Business Development & Strategy in Microsoft’s platforms and services division. Mr. McKenzie also practiced law in the technology transactions group at the Silicon Valley law firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and in the communications and electronic commerce group at the Washington D.C. law firm of WilmerHale. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia, received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, and attended New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Mr. McKenzie is a member of the Board of Advisors of the Batten School of Leadership & Public Policy at the University of Virginia.
