Grain Management-Backed Alares Acquires Azza Telecom
With this purchase, Alares will reach 765,000 customers in Brazil and become the sixth largest ISP in the country
São Paulo, S.P. (July 19, 2024)
Alares, a Grain Management-backed independent operator of telecommunications services offering internet access via fiber optics, subscription TV, wireline and streaming, announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire Azza Telecom.
The transaction, which is subject to regulatory approvals, will represent another important step in Alares’ growth strategy and reinforce its performance as a key player in the consolidation of the Brazilian broadband market. With this acquisition, Alares will serve more than 765,000 customers in 228 cities across seven states in the Southeast, Northeast, and South regions of the country, and solidify its position as the #1 provider in 40% of the cities in which it operates and the #2 provider in 24%. In addition, Alares will now have 126 stores in close proximity to its customers and target markets.
The operation places Alares as the sixth largest ISP in Brazil.
“Our fiber optic network will reach more than 32,000 kilometers, extending through several cities in Brazil from Ceará to Paraná, addressing a market of 3.3 million homes and companies in the regions in which we operate,” comments Denis Ferreira, CEO of Alares.
Along with the 2023 acquisition of Webby Internet, the acquisition of Azza Telecom strengthens Alares’ presence in the Southeast region, also marking the consolidation of the company in the state of São Paulo, where it will connect more than 317,000 homes and companies, becoming the 4th largest ISP in the state.
“We believe customers will benefit from a broader network structure, more robust service options, increased access to sales, service and field operations teams, and the convenience of efficient and quality digital channels,” adds Denis Ferreira.
